Succulent Landscape

This landscape is the product of a small renovation project that I worked on last year. The owner is running off
an overall limited budget for the landscape, so I essentially add to areas of the front and back yards when time and money allows. It's a Spanish home on the west side of LA and the owner has a wonderful colorful and quirky style, so we wanted to turn the common grass and hedge front yard into an eclectic and low-water garden.

When I first arrived to bring in plants and lay things out, there was only a lonely lawn with a path dug through to the sidewalk and a thick layer of shrubs hugging the front of the house. The generic space needed a new life to
match the personality of the family that lives there. The front yard is now a palette of seasonal color, composed of a variety of succulents, grasses and a few existing palms. Some larger plants need to be ordered to add additional height in the background, but the overall concept is beginning to evolve as all the plants are growing into their home.
